on September 16, 2011

September 14, 2011 (by Horatio Algren) According to reports tented fumigation homes have been marked by burglars for break-ins in Southern California Neighborhoods. According to the Torrance Police Department burglars have been taking advantage of homes and apartment buildings that are tented for fumigation, since July 1st.

The Torrance Police Department has stated that since July 1st there have been at least four burglaries in Torrance of residences that were tented for fumigation. There were nine of these same type of robberies in Gardenia and at least six in Inglewood, according to the police department. According to police the homes that were targeted used several different fumigation companies, leading police to believe no employees are involved.

In a Torrance Police Department statement they believe that the thieves have an understanding of the fumigation process and realize that when fans are placed in the housed to force the fumigation poisonous odors out the doors and windows are open. This provides easy entry for burglars and entry is safe, since the chemicals are being forced out of the residence, according to the Torrance Police Department. According to the Torrance Police Department they have no descriptions of suspects at this time and are asking anyone with information to contact the police department.
